Fashion Focus Chicago 2011 is Around the Corner

Fashion Focus Chicago 2011 is just around the corner, so mark you calendars for the week of October 18 and get ready for celebrating Chicago's talented designers at the magnificent Millennium Park. In addition to fantastic shopping and parties, here's is breakdown of what to expect:

 

  • October 18: The designers of Macy's Chicago Fashion Incubator kick things off with a show featuring the 2011 designers in residence, including Concetta Cipriano, Shavonne Dorsey, Eric Kipp, Kahindo Mateene, Taneasha Prunty, and Crystal B. Simms, along with CFI alums Miriam Cecilia Carlson, Leah Fagan, Christina Fan, Catherine Furio, Anna Hovet, Stephanie Kuhr, Agga B. Raya, Jonnie Rettele, Cynthia Ryba, Donaldo Smith, and Lidia Wachowska. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and is a fundraiser for CFI programs supporting new and emerging Chicago designers.   • October 19: The Mario Tricoci and Vitaminwater InspireDESIGN show features Chicago lines Imaginary People, J.Cheikh, Michelle Tan, Narcisse Designs, and Reddoll. At the end of the show, the winner of the fourth annual Mario, Make Me a Model contest will be announced. The show starts at &:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by visiting MarioMakeMeaModel.com.

 

  • October 20: It is the 3rd Annual Vert Couture eco-fashion show, spotlighting Chicago’s sustainable fashion movement and presented by Conscious Planet Media. You will see the Spring 2012 collections from Chicago's Heart and Dollparts, Richard Dayhoff, and Lauren Lein. The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets can be purchased by visiting VertCouture.com.

 

  • October 21: The Art of Fashion show previews the Spring 2012 collections of some amazing Chicago designers, including Lara Miller, Nade Baer, Nora del Busto, Borris Powell, Eva Pazola, RÜCH, Squasht by Les, Shernett Swaby, Sylwia Wilczynska, and Zamrie. This year each designer will show a wearable concept garment that you'll be able to bid on during an auction. Tickets can be purchased through StyleChicago.com.

 

Chicago is the home to more than 400 local designers and 300 independent boutiques, and has one of the most creative communities in the country. The City of Chicago’s Fashion Initiative partners with the industry on resources and high-profile events for local designers and independent boutiques to gain visibility, learn about the business of fashion and elevate the industry.
