Fashion Files Magazine: Hollywood Dress Up

Grammy Awards Dress Up

It's almost Grammy Sunday! That means it's time for another round of Celebrity Dress-Up. The most enjoyable thing about playing dress up for the Grammy Awards is that virtually anything goes. While The Golden Globes and Oscars are all about the glamour, the Grammys are all about the glitz. I hope you enjoy the six talented ladies and head-turning dresses I selected for each.  Sound off on Twitter and let the FashionFiles team know which one is your favorite!

There's no way to top Gaga's infamous Egg or her custom-made Armani from Grammy Awards past. There really is no use in even trying to replicate Gaga's utterly unique ensembles. Instead, we choose this Stéphane Rolland in an arresting shade of yellow. Quite simply, this dress just screams Gaga. Starting with the startling shade, to the dramatic bows that resemble large spiders crawling up her shoulder and the paint spillage bleeding down the back, this is a gown that makes a dramatic entrance AND exit, and that is hard to come by.

If anyone loves a pretty princess-y dress, it's Taylor Swift. While we do love her ball-gowns-and-sparkles style, we would like to see her switch it up a bit for the Grammys. A new silhouette and a different type of sparkle might be just the ticket to take her and her new sleek hairdo to another level. This Dolce & Gabbana has a simple lady-like cut, but the dazzling jewels and candy-colored fringe give it lots of extra personality. It stays true to Taylor's ultra feminine style while also adding some much needed pizazz.

Let's face it, Nicki Minaj is rarely winning any of our 'Best Dressed' awards. Nonetheless, we can admire her for being a risk-taker. Throwing all of our "rules" out the window, dressing her was more fun than we thought it would be. This Jean Paul Gaultier is all over the place, but in the best ways. Together, the bedazzled bodice, the wide snakeskin belt, and the full and frilly lace and tulle skirt sound like they could be a disaster. Instead, this dress is quirky, fun and girly, but still carries an edge. We actually would love to see her rock some giant cotton candy hair like the model did during the runway presentation. Throw in a pair of massively fabulous heels, and we have a look made in Minaj heaven!

Katy Perry is always full of red carpet surprises. She can go from totally over-the-top one day to Old Hollywood glamour the next. When dressing Katy, we had to keep in mind her current Smurf-hued hair and be careful to pick a gown to complement, but not clash with her preferred shade of blue.  Also, based on her fashion history it is no secret Katy has a great bust line and is not afraid to accentuate it. The sculptured, plunging décolletage on this baby blue Zuhair Murad is right up her alley, and the glittering, sheer bottom panel adds just a hint of sex appeal while still keeping the look somewhat sweet.

When it comes to showing skin, nobody does it quite like Rihanna. Though she tends to be a little more daring on stage than on the red carpet, she still likes to keep it sexy with touches of artful couture. I feel like this Marchesa gives a good dose of both. It's soft in color and texture but the sparkly peek-a-boo top is just the perfect hint of skin to keep things provocative, yet tasteful.

If there is any songstress who looks like she stepped right out of a Barbie box, it's Carrie Underwood. She almost always nails it on the red carpet. We fell in love with this Dior dress as soon as we saw it on the runway, and she was one of the first people I thought of to wear it. She loves to show off her killer legs, and the layers of decadent ombre ruffles add the perfect touch of classic Carrie daintiness.

Golden Globes Dress Up

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards are tomorrow and Tinseltown beauties are getting polished for the red carpet as we speak. Here's our take one how we see some of the nominees dressed.

Viola Davis’ beautiful, rich and silky complexion would look divine in this glittery pewter Naeem Khan, highlighting her tall and toned body. Add a little frost and a smokey eye, and we have magic!

Jessica Chastain is easily a favorite red carpet 'newbie' of the past year. She loves experimenting with her looks and is often unpredictable. She's also had a memorable year so we believe she needs a memorable gown! This Atelier Versace gown needs a home, and it should be over at Ms. Chastain’s. With her feminine curves and gorgeous red hair, it is a Golden Globe fashion moment waiting to happen.

Charlize Theron is about as perfect as they come and has already walked the red carpet in quite a few momentous gowns, hence why we want to put her in something different. This beaded KaufmanFranco gown with an edgy, yet elegant motif, is ideal for Theron. It's a dress fit for a {Snow White} queen. Pun intended.

Claire Danes is a known fan of minimalism on the red carpet, and we didn't want to step too far outside of that since she carries he style well. The color and shape of this Armani dress are meant for Danes and would complement her small frame.

Diane Lane is a girl who is not afraid to sparkle on the red carpet, although nothing can outshine her talent. This Reem Acra dress is the definition of glamour, and the plunging neckline and bursts of beading would look gorgeous on her fabulous figure. The woman has no age!

Not many women in Hollywood can get away with a frothy, pretty princess gown. Zooey Deschanel, however, can do it flawlessly. Her personality and style are in sync – bubbly, fun and spirited. This Oscar de la Renta gown — sans the sash— is the perfect baby blue confection of sparkly petals that would undoubtedly play up Deschanel’s blue eyes and dark locks.

Evan Rachel Wood is a woman who can rock couture at any awards show. Although this Zac Posen gown is not couture, it’s full of drama. The bottom and train alone are enough to stop our hearts, and the rich color would look magnificent against her fair skin tone.

This South American BOMBSHELL is 100 percent glamour girl. Sofia Vergara has the perfect hourglass figure for a mermaid silhouette, and this Zac Posen is all about showing off the curves. We know a black dress is not always a favorite on the red carpet, but when you put it in a package like this it is anything but boring.

Kate Winslet is always a fashion favorite because she looks like a real woman and embraces the real woman within. Classy and very elegant, we want to put her in a sophisticated number with a hint of sex appeal. This Roland Mouret meets that criteria perfectly. We adore the cutout beaded bodice against the rich black fabric. It's an interesting take on a formal LBD.

Except for the killer Prabal Gurung SP12 she wore during The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo premiere in December, Rooney Mara's promotional tour wardrobe has been quite underwhelming. Although we decided not to pull her out of her black comfort zone, we wanted to do a new take on her favorite color with a little shimmer, a little drama. The tulle and beading on this Oscar de la Renta gown add such a wow factor that it would wake everyone up from their Rooney cat-naps.
